The Associations / Buildings together comprise the Condominium Owners Organization of Century Village East or COOCVE (pronounced cook-vee). It is the organization focused around issues related to the 253 Associations. COOCVE provides community leadership dealing with city or county matters as well as providing educational seminars. It strives to resolve problems or supply information to both Association Boards and their Residents.
All of the 253 Associations can become members of COOCVE, with voting representation depending on the number of units per building. Garden buildings with 16-24 units have 1 COOCVE Delegate (voting representative), buildings with 56-64 units have 3 Delegates, buildings with 72-80 units have 4 Delegates, and 96- unit buildings have 5 Delegates.
The COOCVE Delegates and Alternate Delegates are elected by the unit Owners of each member Association. Those Delegates elect the COOCVE Officers (President, Vice President, etc.) The COOCVE Delegates act as the “Congress” of Century Village East. This Board, with all of the elected Delegatess, usually meets on the third Tuesday of each month. The Alternate Delegates vote if their respective COOCVE Delegates are not present.
At an annual election, the COOCVE Delegates elect about one-third of the nine Board Members of Master Management (for a three-year term), and about one-third of the seven Board Members of CenClub (for a three-year term). Every other year, they elect the COOCVE Officers for a two-year term. All Delegates and Officers are non-paid volunteers.
